Adding Value to Services
The best companies today aren't
content to live with the high costs
of occupational health and safety
compliance and worker's
compensation. They're conducting
vigorous campaigns that go well
beyond simply monitoring the health
and safety of their employees. HCI is
at the forefront with a host of value
added services and capabilities that
reduce exposure, keep employees
healthy and productive, and streamline
the Health Conservation process. |

Scheduling That
Speeds Things Up |
 |
Start in Time,
Finish on Time
A major obstacle to compliance is getting the annual testing requirement completed on time and in its entirety. HCI leaves nothing to chance in its efforts to streamline the entire process. Our scheduling department uses mapping software developed by HCI to optimize the availability of our mobile units, and shorten lead times. All existing and potential test sites in our database are geocoded, linked to established anniversary test dates and to client-specific files. As scheduling parameters are set, resulting information writes to a provisional calendar, affording great flexibility when scheduling testing appointments. As quickly as variables may change, parameters can be reset and the process continued without disruption.
With the inception of stricter timelines to the recordkeeping requirements, HCI mobile units are available for Return Van Visits (RVVs) to perform retests within the specified time. Of course results are immediately available via the web. |

E-LINK™ Notification
HCI's latest innovation is an automatic
e-mail notification called E-LINK™ that advises customers instantly when
test results are available for web-based
access. Now you're connected,
anytime, anywhere, and in real time,
to the latest test results. |

Compliance Made Easier:
Hearing Conservation Training Programs |
|
| |
Training and education are key to your hearing loss prevention efforts. They are also required annually by OSHA. Topics and content as specified by CFR 1910.95 is covered in HCI’s video presentation that is prefaced by a demonstration of the correct way to wear the actual hearing protection used at your facility, and followed with questions and answers. Training for hourly employees is conducted in conjunction with audiometric testing to minimize production down-time.
In addition, specialized training is available for supervisors, safety team leaders, and others responsible for hearing conservation, as well as train-the-trainer programs.

Notification & Counseling of Employees Who Have Experienced a Standard Threshold Shift (STS) |
| |
Like training, notification and counseling are also required annually. HCI offers an expedient solution with its TNT (Testing, Notification, & Training) program by providing immediate notification and counseling of employees with an OSHA/MSHA Standard Threshold Shift (STS). These individuals will receive written notification and counseling by HCI's staff upon completion of their hearing test. All counseling is done in accordance with the guidelines set forth in 29 CFR 1910.95 and 30 CFR part G2 using HCI's exclusive Counseling Guide.
|
Documentation Matters |
| |
This is the most important yet most often neglected component of compliance. Whether the notification and training of your employees is conducted by HCI, another outside source, or by your staff in-house, proper documentation and recordkeeping are critical to effective compliance. HCI provides all the necessary individual forms for this purpose. Our Notification Letters and Counseling Guides are preprinted with employee's information and can be distributed by us or provided to the facility for your personnel's use in training, notification and counseling.

Determination of Work Relatedness of a
Recordable Hearing Shift |
| |
While failure to properly record hearing loss is a serious compliance issue, companies should not over-record either. A high percentage of recordables are found not to be a result of the workplace. By using the HCI Extended Letter Questionnaire methodology, our experienced doctor will provide a documented assessment of work relatedness, and simplify the recording process for you. HCI's doctors conduct a thorough evaluation of potentially Recordable Hearing Shifts to determine if they are truly work-related and recordable on the OSHA/MSHA Log.
